Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA "Sunday racer"

In 1965 Alfa Romeo introduced the lightweight version of it’s Giulia with the designation GTA, the car was designed for racing, with weight removed throughout, including a full aluminium body, perspex windows and a lightweight interior. This car was delivered to us as a full stripped out racer, with a full roll cage and pair of racing bucket seats. The owner had already ordered a half cage and pair of original style Alfa Romeo seats for the project and handed us the brief of’ Sunday racer, cars and coffee special! So we set about fabricating a number of panels and trimming the car, without adding too much weight. The car now has a comfortable, yet semi race car feel to it, perfect for those early morning blasts or modern interpretations of events such as the Targa Floria or Tour Auto. The owner is planning on entering a number of these events, starting with the Bernina Gran Turismo hillclimb event in Switzerland. We also fabricated a custom mount for the set of Heuer stopwatches and the supplied Carrillo spot lights.
