With new carpet, mats, front and rear seat covers rounding up a focused interior space. A new headlining, dash top further confirm the commitment to total as new specification.
Instrumentation and switch gear is clean, crisp and fully operational.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Porsche designers decided to build the 356’s air cooled pushrod OHV flat-four around the engine case they had originally designed for the Volkswagen Beetle. They added new cylinder heads, camshaft, crankshaft, intake and exhaust manifolds and used dual carburetors to more than double the VW’s horsepower. While the first prototype 356 had a mid-engine layout, all subsequent 356 engines were rear-mounted.
With a flat 4 engine, the car is capable reaching a top speed of 120mph quite a feat for a car of this period. Giving a truly lovely growl through its rear bumper exhaust.
This cars engine is original and remains in fine fettle after being inspected in house, and has benefited from a full and comprehensive service and is ready to use.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The car presents with perfect pressed steel wheels with gleaming chrome hub caps topped off with the Porsche emblem, wrapped in new period Pirelli Cinturato rubber.
HISTORY FILE
Originally a Californian car it was imported into the UK in 2014 as a running and usable dry state example. On arrival some light restoration was started which subsequently turned into a comprehensive renovation, body restoration and full re-trim by renowned trimmer O’Rouke. 4 years would pass before the car was complete and it being registered on the road in the UK in 2018.
With a copy of the Californian registration certificate and a huge file documenting the renovation this very pretty and 356 sits in excellent condition, drives like new, and is ready for the next owner to enjoy.
